The Canadian Cancer Society continues to work tirelessly to help prevent cervical cancer, through research, advocacy and promoting the importance of screening and vaccination.
Our funding was instrumental in helping Dr Eduardo Franco along with a group of international scientists to pinpoint the human papilloma virus (HPV) as the cause of cervical cancer. The HPV vaccine was approved in 2006 and continues to help prevent cervical cancer for thousands of women each year, all around the world.
The Canadian Cancer Society funds more research into more types of cancer than any other national charity in Canada. Learn more about the exciting research we are currently funding.
