WellnessFits is a partnership between the Canadian Cancer Society and the British Columbia government to provide free, easy-to-use resources that encourage employees and employers to think and act in preventive ways about their health.
Kate Carty, WellnessFits Coordinator, says "The Society is helping workplaces make simple changes in the environment that make the healthier choice the easier choice."
In Prince George, employees of Integris Credit Union started a 6-week lunchtime walking program. They also volunteered during their lunch break as dog walkers for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
"They not only got active at lunch, they did something positive for the community," explains Kate.
In Vancouver, technology company A Thinking Ape, enrolled in the WellnessFits program and started providing healthy food options and tips to its employees.
