"No parent should have to say goodbye to their child," says Tori Yetman, who has endured the loss of 2 friends to childhood cancers.
The tragic events inspired Tori to undertake a remarkable effort to help others facing the disease. In 2008, at the age of 13, Tori made an incredible 850 kilometre journey from her home in Nelson House, Manitoba to Winnipeg to raise important cancer research funds. She rode her bike and ran the distance, accompanied by family and friends.
Tori repeated the feat 3 more times between 2009 and 2011, raising over $45,000 in support of cancer research. She travelled an astonishing total of 3,400 kilometres.
The world-leading research that we support is directly dependent on the funds raised by people like Tori. Thanks to research being done today, fewer children and their families will need to fear cancer.
