Cancer survivor celebrates 55 years as a Society volunteer

Bessie Robart

Bessie Robart, of Nova Scotia, is not only a cancer survivor. She is also a tireless volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society who has been canvassing door-to-door to support our fundraising efforts since 1958.

An energetic, outspoken and passionate volunteer, Bessie has created many memories on her canvassing missions, and has developed a reputation as an expert on effective door-to-door fundraising.

"Well, you probably won't get anybody else that is as knowledgeable about door-to- door fundraising as I am and I'm not bragging, I'm just telling you the truth. When I go out in 2013, that will be 55 years. There isn't anything I haven't heard."
